Video of the Week: Yale Wins Third Straight IRA Title
Texas Two Step | Results from IRAs and NCAAs | European Championships Coverage
This week’s video comes to us from the banter patrol, and hinges on Yale’s stellar 2019 season, with what may be the best intro to a rowing video on the Internet to date. In all seriousness, there’s some sweet rowing footage in the above clip, and Yale’s run has grown from a phenomenon into a dynasty.
Maybe the most remarkable thing? This is the the second time that a program coached by Steve Gladstone has completed a three-peat at the IRA National Championships—the first time coming at California, where the Golden Bears won four straight IRA titles from 1999-2002. All told, Gladstone has now won 14 IRA championships—tying him with Charles Courtney of Cornell for the most by any coach, ever.
Read more about Gladstone in our interview (‘The Gladstone Mentality’) with him following last year’s IRA title with Yale, and in our Best Rowing Coaches series, also from 2018.
